Kyle, awesome work with your class! I can't wait to use some of your ideas in my classroom. I'm actually going to buy a gps before I head over to Japan this December, to have fun finding geocaches no doubt hidden all over the place. Or if there aren't any, make my own!

Looking forward to seeing you again soon!

Kyle, this is great! I'm teaching grade 6 Social Studies right now and we're into the map interpretations. I did some compass orienteering with my students but the GPS units would be so much more accurate and educational to use. I'm going to look into whether our division PVSD has GPS units for our students to use. Thanks for the inspiring ideas! Cheers:)

Kyle,

Great activity and write up! Thanks for sharing.

Have you ever done anything with travel bugs? Our Science Club is looking to make a travel bug to explore different "virtual field trips."

Thanks for stopping by Jerry. The video we watched was actually a DVD called "The Complete Guide to Geocaching" by Groundspeak. Here is the link http://shop.groundspeak.com/productDetail.cfm?CategoryID=4&ProductID=77

Be sure to let me know if you experiment with geocaching. Would love to read your reflections.

That is some VERY exciting stuff!! Great things are happening in the Great White North. I was wondering if you might be able to send me the link to the geocaching movie you mentioned above? I'd love to see it. Thank you for sharing your experience!
